Today's young Song Writers help build positive cultures of belonging and connection

OMPA offers inclusive song writing workshops in schools bringing creative opportunities to young people already passionate about writing songs AND to those who are curious about learning new creative skills. Original songs link to shared experience, and have the power to bring people together. Communities built on connection through songs and stories flourish when schools give every child the opportunity to explore their creative potential as co-writers and co-producers of their own Original School Musicals, which is a feature service at OMPA. Every school can support their students to write original school songs or songs for special events, and perform these songs to their peers and broader community audiences. Student agency and wellbeing thrives in schools and community groups where creative practice flourishes. Young people help each other to build cultures of belonging and trust where they can express themselves freely, whilst connecting and sharing in each other's individual and collective efforts. We evolved to sing and dance, and to carry our important messages through songs. OMPA invites you to be in touch for 2024 artist residencies and co-curricular programs.

Song Writing is a connecting force:
OMPA's mission is to pass on expertise, passion & unique skills to inspire creative & artistic expression in others; to not only nurture our young talent, but to purposefully mentor young people who will benefit from song writing the most. With relentless growth in youth anxiety, isolation and depression, concern can sometimes lead to interventions which potentially further distance young people from others. When what they need are life skills which empower them to find greater connection to others, OMPA offers a valuable solution to sit alongside other wellbeing programs offered in schools and community organisations. Through the process of writing songs, young people find a way through difficult emotions that can be hard to talk about. These songs can also help other young people find comfort when they relate to their own inner states. Helping young people learn how to help themselves and others TO FEEL GOOD is at the heart of OMPA's mission. OMPA seeks to teach skills that every young person will have for a lifetime spent navigating the highs and lows. Songs are written, experienced, and can remain with us for the entirety of our lives. Yes, for every mood there is a song that makes it all so much better. Let's work together! Melanie Atma Gertler
